OnePlus 6T Gets 'Screen Unlock' Improvements With OxygenOS 9.0.5 #techzoo

OnePlus has just announced, via its official forums, that a new update is rolling out to its new flagship, OxygenOS 9.0.5. This is an incremental update for the OnePlus 6T, and it brings further improvements to the most talked-about feature of the OnePlus 6T, its in-display fingerprint scanner, which the company refers to as ‘Screen Unlock’. OnePlus talked a lot about Screen Unlock over the last couple of weeks, and what the company did in order to bring it to the level it is today, but it seems like OnePlus is doing its best to improve it even further, as it’s not perfect, though nothing is, of course. In addition to ‘Screen Unlock’ improvements, the company also listed general bug fixes and improvements in the changelog, which is not surprising, as such changes are a part of pretty much every update.

This is not the first update that the company released for the OnePlus 6T, as the OxygenOS 9.0.4 landed even before the phone went on sale. OxygenOS 9.0.4 had a much more detailed changelog than OxygenOS 9.0.5, and amongst other fixes, the company also tweaked Screen Unlock as well, same as in this update, and you can expect to see more such tweaks in the near future. In addition to tweaking Screen Unlock. OnePlus also did its best to improve Nightscape in OxygenOS 9.0.4, a camera mode that is supposed to boost nighttime photography. On top of all that, the company added Studio Lighting to enhance face contour, while the November 2018 security patch was pushed out to the phone as well. Last, but not least, the company also optimized the standby power consumption of the device. Neither of these two updates changed the version of Android that runs on the OnePlus 6T, as expected, as the phone ships with Android 9 Pie, which is the latest version of Android available out there.

With those changes, the OnePlus 6 got both the company’s new gesture navigations, and the Nightscape mode for the camera. The OnePlus 6T is the second flagship this company had introduced this year, following the OnePlus 6 which arrived in May. The OnePlus 6T is made out of metal and glass, just like the OnePlus 6, and the build is actually quite similar. There are two notable differences, though, the OnePlus 6T sports a considerably smaller notch, the so-called ‘teardrop’ notch, while it also does not have a fingerprint scanner on the back, unlike its sibling. The OnePlus 6T is also a bit narrower, a bit taller, and thicker, than the OnePlus 6, as it has a larger display with a different aspect ratio. The two phones have the same RAM setups, same cameras, and so on.

The OnePlus 6T features a 6.41-inch fullHD+ Optic AMOLED display, and this time around, OnePlus opted for a 19.5:9 display aspect ratio. The phone is fueled by the Snapdragon 845 64-bit octa-core processor, Qualcomm’s most powerful offering. The phone comes in both 6GB and 8GB RAM variants, while it packs in a 3,700mAh battery on the inside, while OnePlus’ proprietary fast charging is still a part of the picture, though it’s no longer called ‘Dash Charge’, due to some legal issues. 16 and 20-megapixel cameras can be found on the back of the OnePlus 6T, while a single 16-megapixel camera lies on its front side. OnePlus’ OxygenOS skin comes pre-installed on top of Android 9 Pie, while the device has two SIM card slots (2x nano SIM).
